Chatham-Kent Sets Deadline for 2026 Municipal Election Nominations

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent reminded prospective candidates that nominations for the 2026 municipal election close this Friday at 2 p.m.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent issued a reminder that the deadline for nominations for the 2026 municipal election is this Friday at 2 p.m. Prospective candidates must file signed nomination forms with the municipal clerk by appointment and provide 25 endorsement signatures.

Filing fees are $200 for mayoral candidates and $100 for councillor or school board trustee candidates. These fees are refundable provided the candidate submits a post-election financial report. The municipality warned that it is unlawful to raise campaign funds or incur expenses before a nomination is officially filed.

Election day for the municipality is scheduled for October 26, 2026, in accordance with the Ontario election calendar.
