Sarnia-Lambton Agencies Host Event to Tackle Staffing Gaps
Lambton Works Centre and local partners hosted 60 employers to encourage hiring individuals facing employment barriers to address regional staffing shortages.
Approximately 60 employers gathered Tuesday at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club for an initiative designed to address local staffing gaps by tapping into underutilized talent pools. The event, co-organized by the Lambton Works Centre, Circles Lambton, the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce, and the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, focused on educating businesses about employment barriers such as transportation issues, lack of childcare, and social understanding gaps that often lead to workplace absenteeism.
Funded by provincial grants through the Windsor Regional Employment Network, the partnership provides employers with resources to identify new candidates and manage specific workplace challenges. The organizers aim to expand recruitment pathways by encouraging employers to look at different candidate pools they may have previously overlooked.
The initiative will continue with events scheduled for November 17-19. These upcoming sessions will provide resume and interview skills training for individuals aged 17 to 25 and facilitate direct networking between youth and local employers.
