Deutsche Telekom Targets €2.5 Billion AI Cost Savings by 2030
Deutsche Telekom plans to save €2.5 billion in indirect costs by 2030 through expanded artificial intelligence and automation across its operations.
Deutsche Telekom expects to reduce indirect costs by approximately €2.5 billion by 2030 compared to 2023 levels through the expanded use of artificial intelligence and automation. The company anticipates that these technologies will generate gross savings of roughly €1.1 billion outside the United States by 2027.
Deutsche Telekom intends to reinvest a portion of the 2027 savings into Germany's digital infrastructure and fiber-optic network. The company also aims to grow AI-related revenue from its non-U.S. business to approximately €800 million by 2030, identifying a significant opportunity in the European pursuit of sovereign AI.
The telecommunications group has confirmed its outlook for 2026 and its medium-term targets. The company notes that AI helps resolve issues immediately by detecting peak cellular network traffic earlier and supporting customer service representatives.
