Jeff Merkley Wins Reelection to Oregon Senate Seat

Senator Jeff Merkley won reelection to his Oregon Senate seat, defeating Republican challenger David Brock Smith by 21 percentage points.

Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley won reelection to his Oregon Senate seat on Tuesday, according to projections from Decision Desk HQ. Merkley secured a decisive victory over Republican challenger David Brock Smith, leading by 21 percentage points with 59 percent to 38 percent of the vote reported as of 11 p.m. EST.

The race was widely considered safe for the incumbent, who has held the seat since 2009. Merkley maintained a significant financial advantage throughout the campaign, raising $8 million compared to $300,000 collected by Smith.

Merkley is recognized for his progressive legislative priorities, including efforts to ban congressional stock trading, streamline the filibuster, and implement stricter regulations on Wall Street. He has also maintained a critical stance toward arms sales to Israel and Saudi Arabia and previously delivered a 22-hour speech in October 2025 condemning President Trump.
