Aerial Attack Kills Driver in Sudan WFP Aid Convoy
An aerial strike targeted World Food Programme trucks in South Kordofan State, killing one driver and sparking international calls for an investigation.
An aerial attack on October 3, 2026, targeted two clearly marked trucks contracted by the World Food Programme in South Kordofan State, Sudan. The vehicles were transporting food supplies between Dilling and Kadugli when the strike occurred, resulting in the death of one driver.
While the World Food Programme confirmed the attack, it has not identified the perpetrators. The Sudan Doctors Network attributed the strike to drones operated by the Rapid Support Forces, demanding an independent investigation into the incident.
The attack drew condemnation from the European Union, the United Arab Emirates, and Sudanese civil society groups. The General Coordination for Displaced People and Refugees in Darfur called for the establishment of secure humanitarian corridors. Wolfram Vetter, head of the European Union delegation to Sudan, warned that the obstruction and targeting of humanitarian aid could put vital relief operations at risk of being halted.
