Iran Strikes Infrastructure and US Facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain

The Government of Iran launched a series of aerial strikes targeting critical infrastructure and military installations across Kuwait and Bahrain on February 25, 2026. The attacks targeted desalination and power plants, threatening the delivery of essential water and electricity services and increasing the risk of a regional humanitarian crisis.

In addition to civilian infrastructure, Iranian forces targeted United States military assets, including a naval facility in Kuwait and an air base in Bahrain. The Government of Bahrain reported repelling several of these attacks, although air raid sirens sounded five times across the country. Iranian officials characterized these operations as part of a retaliatory cycle, claiming they successfully struck the U.S. facilities.

The escalation follows U.S. military actions against Iran. An Iranian official stated that a U.S. strike on a water desalination plant left approximately 10,000 people without water. Observers suggest these events indicate a strategic shift by Iran toward economic warfare, using the targeting of civilian infrastructure to gain strategic leverage.
