Dino Melaye Accuses INEC of Plotting 2027 Election Rigging
Dino Melaye accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of planning to rig the 2027 general elections following reports of voter register irregularities.
Former senator and African Democratic Congress chieftain Dino Melaye accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of plotting to rig the 2027 general elections. In a post on X, Melaye claimed that recent activities by the electoral umpire indicate "anticipatory rigging" and warned that any attempt to manipulate the polls would be resisted.
Melaye urged the commission to redeem its image and restore public confidence to ensure the process reflects the will of voters. He stated that the commission must be "born again" to avoid rigging, warning that those who attempt to do so should "say your final prayer."
These allegations follow reports of AI-generated photographs appearing in the preliminary voters' register and complaints from various political parties regarding the omission of candidates from the final INEC list. Melaye has remained a consistent critic of the commission since the 2023 general elections.
