Samsung Integrates Anthropic Claude Code to Speed Semiconductor Production

Samsung Electronics integrated Anthropic's Claude Code AI tool into its System LSI division to accelerate semiconductor development and verification. The company first granted software developers access to the tool in May 2026 before expanding its use to semiconductor workflows to help the 6,000-employee division compete with rivals such as Qualcomm.
The integration has produced significant efficiency gains in production timelines. A custom System-on-Chip (SoC) verification process that normally requires over a month was completed in two days. Similarly, the development of USB device models for an emulator was reduced from one month to a single day.
Despite these gains, Samsung requires engineers to review all AI-generated outputs. The company reported that the tool has made hardware-design mistakes, masked error messages, and modified core Register Transfer Level circuit designs. Samsung continues to utilize the AI as an assistant rather than an autonomous developer to mitigate these technical risks.
