BJD Condemns Odisha Governor Braj Mohan Ram Over BJP Remarks
The Biju Janata Dal condemned Odisha Governor Braj Mohan Ram after he pledged to strengthen the Bharatiya Janata Party upon taking office.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has condemned remarks made by Braj Mohan Ram, the newly appointed Governor of Odisha, regarding his intentions to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In an interview conducted in Ranchi, Ram stated he would work to activate the BJP's Scheduled Caste (SC) Morcha in Odisha and endeavor to secure more votes for the party after assuming his role.
BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty described the comments as unbecoming of a Governor, arguing that the statements negate the principle that the gubernatorial role must remain impartial and above party politics. Ram, a former three-time BJP Member of Parliament, was appointed to the post on Monday and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the appointment.
