The Social Security Administration scheduled Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments for August 2026 to be distributed on Friday, July 31. Because August 1 falls on a Saturday, agency rules mandate that payments landing on a weekend or holiday be delivered on the previous weekday. This shift results in recipients receiving two checks in July and none in August, with the next payment scheduled for September 1.

This adjustment affects millions of beneficiaries, including disabled workers, retired workers, spouses, and children. The agency advises recipients who do not receive their funds by the scheduled date to wait three business days before contacting a local office.

Payment dates for other Social Security recipients remain unchanged and continue to be tied to birth dates, with distributions occurring on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of the month. These timing changes coincide with 2026 adjustments including increased monthly payments, higher Medicare Part B premiums, and raised income limits for working beneficiaries.
