Mira Sultan Al Suwaidi Leads IPU Assembly Strategy Meeting

Mira Sultan Al Suwaidi, Vice Chairman of the Federal National Council Group in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, chaired a joint meeting with heads of geopolitical groups and specialized bodies on October 6, 2026. The session took place in Arusha, Tanzania, as part of the 153rd IPU Assembly.
The meeting focused on implementing a new IPU strategy to enhance international parliamentary action. For 2026, the group established key priorities including human rights, the rights of parliamentarians, disability-inclusive parliaments, and the right to a sustainable environment.
In her capacity as President of the IPU Standing Committee on Sustainable Development, Al Suwaidi further outlined specific goals for climate action and socioeconomic transformation. She emphasized the integration of innovation and artificial intelligence to drive sustainable development globally.
