Qualcomm Develops Linux Support for Snapdragon X2 Laptops

Qualcomm announced at the Snapdragon Summit 2026 that it is officially developing Linux support for Snapdragon X2 ARM laptops. The company is using Debian 13 as its reference and testing environment, with foundational support expected by the end of 2026 and Ubuntu certification planned for early 2027.

To enable on-device AI inference and graphics compute, the company is utilizing a custom kernel and focusing on upstreaming drivers for the Adreno GPU and Hexagon NPU. A developer preview is currently available for users with X2 hardware to facilitate production-level work.

ASUS has committed to offering Linux-flavored versions of its X2-powered devices in 2027. While the initiative aims to improve efficiency in AI and machine learning development, the company does not expect consumer availability until mid-2027 at the earliest.
