Ford Updates 2027 F-150 With New Base Engine and Towing Tech

Ford Motor Company updated its F-150 pickup for the 2027 model year, introducing a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 as the new base engine to replace the 2.7L version. While maintaining 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, the new engine reaches peak torque at 2,250 rpm, down from 3,000 rpm, to improve low-end performance for city driving and towing.

The automaker expanded the 5.0L V8 engine to all models, returning the option to premium King Ranch and Platinum trims for the first time since 2023. To increase accessibility, Ford introduced stripped-down versions of the Raptor and Tremor models by removing standard equipment like power controls and heated seats, lowering the Raptor's starting price to approximately $77,800 and the Tremor's to $62,400.

Technological updates include the launch of BlueCruise with Towing, a Level 2 hands-free system supporting trailers up to 10,000 pounds on over 130,000 miles of compatible highways. The system is available on all trims from XLT upward but prohibits automatic lane changes and speeds over 75 mph. Other changes include revised grille and wheel designs and a new branded appearance package for 4x4 XLT SuperCrew models featuring brown duck canvas upholstery and a spray-in bedliner.
