Piyush Goyal Leads Business Delegation to Germany and Netherlands

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal is leading a 100-member business delegation to Germany and the Netherlands to secure investments and advance the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is leading a delegation of approximately 100 businesses and startups on an official visit to Germany and the Netherlands from October 22 to 27, 2026. The mission aims to deepen strategic economic partnerships and expand bilateral trade in sectors including artificial intelligence, clean technology, and green mobility.

In Berlin, Goyal met with executives from Bayer, Fresenius Group, and Knauf Group to discuss expanding collaborations in healthcare, medical solutions, and sustainable construction. He also attended the inauguration of the India Center of the German Council on Foreign Relations alongside Germany's Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katherina Reiche, and participated in the Berlin Global Dialogue. These engagements follow a period of growth in bilateral trade, which reached USD 31 billion in 2025-26.

The visit coincides with the finalization of a free trade agreement between India and the European Union, which is expected to be signed in December and implemented next year. In the Netherlands, Goyal is scheduled to engage with ministers in The Hague and visit the Port of Rotterdam to study logistics infrastructure.

Supporting the mission, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry highlighted India's strong economic fundamentals and large domestic market as a compelling proposition for European firms. Secretary General Anant Swarup specifically identified opportunities in advanced manufacturing, industrial automation, and renewable energy.
