Elon Musk Sets Cybercab Commercial Launch Timeline

Elon Musk announced that Tesla's Cybercab, a two-seat vehicle lacking a steering wheel, will begin commercial operations in Florida, Nevada, and several other states. In an interview with China Global Television Network, the Tesla CEO stated that the service is expected to be operating commercially in California by the middle of 2027.

This timeline affects a public wager made by tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee. Brownlee pledged to shave his head if Tesla sold the vehicle to regular buyers for $30,000 before the end of 2026. Given the announced schedule, the conditions for the bet are unlikely to be met within the specified timeframe.

Tesla continues to face regulatory scrutiny as it prepares for the launch. The company must address an audit query from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concerning the vehicle's self-certification for federal safety standards.
