Om Prakash Rajbhar Calls for Dividing Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party chief Om Prakash Rajbhar declared that dividing Uttar Pradesh into four smaller states is "inevitable." The proposal suggests splitting the most populous state in India into Purvanchal, Madhyanchal, Bundelkhand, and Harit Pradesh.

Rajbhar stated that any future electoral alliance would face a predetermined condition: the Chief Minister of the proposed Purvanchal state must come from the Rajbhar community. He cited the community's significant population and vote share in eastern Uttar Pradesh as the basis for this demand.

While the proposal aligns with a 2011 Bahujan Samaj Party resolution and historical suggestions by B.R. Ambedkar, it currently lacks official legislative action. Alongside the proposal, Rajbhar criticized Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, alleging that the party's previous administration harmed the Dalit community by ending reservation in government promotions.
