Enbridge Proposes West Texas Express Natural Gas Pipeline

Enbridge launched a non-binding open season on September 10 for the proposed West Texas Express natural gas pipeline. The project intends to transport gas from the Waha area of the Permian Shale to markets in and around El Paso, Texas, as well as customers in New Mexico, Arizona, and Mexico.

The proposed infrastructure would consist of over 150 miles of new pipeline with an initial capacity of up to two billion cubic feet per day. The project is designed to address increasing gas-to-oil ratios in the Permian basin and rising demand from industrial users, power generators, utilities, and data centers.

Enbridge targets an in-service date in the fourth quarter of 2029, though the timeline remains pending regulatory approvals and commercial support. The open season is scheduled to close on September 25.
