Naval Group and Nibe Ltd Partner on Indian Naval Tech

The French defense company Naval Group and India's Nibe Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding on September 18, 2026, in New Delhi to establish a strategic cooperation framework for modern naval technologies. The partnership focuses on enhancing India's naval shipbuilding and maritime ecosystem through the development of defense platforms and autonomous systems.

Specific technical priorities include the integration of underwater drones onto submarines, the creation of mine countermeasure vessels, and the development of modular naval weapon launching systems. This collaboration is designed to support the Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative, which seeks to increase India's self-reliance in naval programs, and serves as an extension of the Special Global Strategic Partnership between India and France.

Naval Group intends to leverage its decade-long presence in India alongside Nibe Ltd's expertise in integrated defense solutions to provide the Indian Navy with next-generation capabilities. Marie-Laure Bourgeois of Naval Group described the agreement as a commitment to sovereign and future-ready naval capabilities, while Ganesh Ramesh Nibe stated that the company's investment and expertise would be an asset in delivering these technologies.
