President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev praised President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for facilitating the first investments and industrial enterprises in the Garabagh region. During a joint press statement and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council in Tashkent on August 23, Aliyev noted that Uzbekistan provided critical early assistance, including the construction of a 960-seat school in Fuzuli and a garment production facility in Khankendi.
Aliyev specifically highlighted the Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan Investment Fund as the most efficient and results-oriented of Azerbaijan's international cooperation formats. He reported that approximately $160 million of the fund's $500 million total budget has already been allocated. Aliyev expressed confidence that the remaining capital will soon be utilized to establish new avenues of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
