Bull Doubles Supercomputer Production Capacity at Angers Factory
Bull opened an expanded production facility in Angers, France, to double its supercomputer output and support European strategic autonomy in AI computing.
The state-owned French manufacturer Bull opened an expanded production building in Angers, France, on October 2, 2026, doubling its capacity to 12 racks per month. The 20,000 square meter facility, part of an 80 million euro investment, is designed for the assembly of supercomputers, AI infrastructures, and future quantum technologies. The company aims to reach 24 racks per month next year to meet record order volumes.
This expansion aligns with a European Union initiative that committed 7 billion euros between 2021 and 2027 to close the AI computing gap with the United States and China. Bull has secured 15 of 18 tenders from EuroHPC and is currently assembling the LUMI-AI system for Finland and the Alice Recoque system for France's nuclear agency.
To further European reshoring of strategic technology, Bull launched the Open Factory programme. This includes a partnership with Hon Hai Precision Industry to manufacture Nvidia NVL systems in the Czech Republic. The French state became the sole shareholder of Bull on March 31, 2026, after acquiring the company from Atos for up to 404 million euros to ensure national and European control over computing capabilities.
