Brookfield Opens Doha Office to Expand Middle East AI Investments

Brookfield Asset Management is opening a new office in Doha to manage AI infrastructure investments and expand its credit operations in the Middle East.

Brookfield Asset Management Ltd is opening a new office in Doha, Qatar, to expand its operations across the Middle East. The new location will be anchored by the firm's global credit platform, which includes Oaktree Capital Management. This expansion follows a strategic partnership between Brookfield and Qai, an artificial intelligence company owned by the Qatar Investment Authority, to invest $20 billion in AI infrastructure both within Qatar and internationally.

Brookfield currently manages approximately $20 billion in assets across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The decision to expand comes as Qatar manages significant economic pressure following an Iranian attack on the Ras Laffan energy complex in March. That attack damaged 17% of the country's liquefied natural gas export capacity and resulted in estimated losses of $20 billion.
