Philippines Inflation Hits 7.8 Percent in October 2026

The Philippine Statistics Authority reported inflation rose to 7.8 percent in October, driven primarily by surging transport and energy costs.

Inflation in the Philippines accelerated to 7.8 percent in October 2026, the highest rate since February 2023. This marks the second consecutive month of growth, rising from the 7.2 percent recorded in September and significantly exceeding the 1.7 percent rate from October 2025.

The Philippine Statistics Authority attributed the uptrend primarily to a surge in the transport index, which climbed to 20.1 percent from 14.6 percent in September. Costs for housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels also increased, reaching 9.3 percent.

Despite the acceleration, the October figure remains within the projected range of 7.1 to 8.1 percent established by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
