Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi led the Odisha Food Pro-2026 investment roadshow in New Delhi on August 7, 2026, to position the state as a global hub for value-added food processing. The initiative aims to diversify Odisha's industrial economy beyond its traditional reliance on mining and minerals to increase farmer incomes and rural employment.
Reports on the total investment secured vary. One source states the state secured Rs 31,648 crore from 22 companies. Another report indicates a higher total of Rs 43,437 crore, consisting of 27 memorandums of understanding worth Rs 41,748 crore and 12 investment intent forms worth Rs 1,689 crore. This latter figure is estimated to generate over 43,000 jobs.
The state's strategy rests on five pillars: developing specialized food processing clusters, expanding cold-chain and warehousing infrastructure, strengthening quality certification, developing a skilled workforce, and integrating Farmer Producer Organisations and women's self-help groups with larger industries. Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain assured investors of a responsive governance system to ensure the seamless grounding and commissioning of these projects.
