Pritzker and Bailey Make Final Appeals in Illinois Governor Race
Governor JB Pritzker and Republican challenger Darren Bailey campaigned across Illinois on the eve of the midterm election to secure final votes.
Governor JB Pritzker and Republican challenger Darren Bailey conducted final campaign events on November 2, 2026, ahead of the midterm election. In a rematch of the 2022 race, Pritzker visited Collinsville and Springfield, where he urged Democratic supporters to increase turnout and highlighted his record of eliminating the state grocery tax and doubling the minimum wage.
Bailey, who received an endorsement from Donald Trump, campaigned in downtown Chicago and other regions. He argued that Pritzker should be held accountable for his eight years in office and proposed a day-one agenda that includes suspending the state gas tax for six months and rolling back toll increases. Bailey also prioritized efforts to keep the Chicago Bears in Illinois.
Pritzker is running for a third term with Lieutenant Governor candidate Christian Mitchell, while Bailey is running with Aaron Del Mar.
