Samsung Executives Meet Sam Altman to Plan AI Transformation

Samsung Group executives met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in South Korea to discuss AI's role in corporate management and infrastructure development.

Approximately 50 senior executives from Samsung Group met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on Saturday at the Human Resources Development Center in Yongin, South Korea. The meeting, titled "The Next 10 Years Shaped by AI: The Enterprise’s Choice," focused on the application of artificial intelligence to corporate management, organizational leadership, and decision-making.

This engagement is part of a comprehensive AI transformation strategy by Samsung, which aims to train its entire workforce by February 2027. The partnership between the two companies has expanded since a 2025 letter of intent to cooperate on global AI infrastructure, specifically regarding memory chips for OpenAI's Stargate project.

Samsung Electronics is currently deploying ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex for its employees. Meanwhile, other affiliates including Samsung SDS, Samsung C&T, and Samsung Heavy Industries are exploring the development of AI data centers and floating offshore data centers. The collaboration follows a July visit by Samsung Electronics Executive Chair Lee Jae-yong to OpenAI headquarters to maintain high-level strategic exchanges.
