Apple Delays Hardware Launches to Integrate New Siri AI

Apple is delaying several hardware product releases and the standard iPhone 18 to align with updated Siri AI features and a staggered release strategy.

Reports indicate that Apple Inc. is implementing a series of strategic delays across its hardware portfolio to ensure deeper integration with Apple Intelligence and updated Siri AI features. Several products—including a new Apple TV 4K, HomePod 3, HomePod mini 2, and a smart display known as HomePad—are reportedly ready for shipment and currently held in warehouses pending software updates. This delay extends to the company's mobile strategy, where the standard iPhone 18 may be pushed to early 2027, while the Pro models remain scheduled for September 2026.

The upcoming iPhone 18 series will feature a 2-nanometer A20 chip, 12 GB of RAM, and a 24-megapixel front-facing camera. To increase screen real estate, Apple plans to shrink the Dynamic Island by moving Face ID components beneath the display. The company may also debut a proprietary in-house modem to enhance satellite connectivity and network efficiency.

Other anticipated releases awaiting AI capabilities include M5-powered Mac mini and Mac Studio models, as well as a 12th-generation iPad with an A18 chip. While some updates were anticipated for iOS 26.5, evidence suggests a more comprehensive Siri overhaul may be deferred until iOS 27.
