Pauline Hanson Names One Nation Candidates for Victorian Election
Pauline Hanson announced eight candidates for the Victorian state election and banned several major media outlets from the Melbourne press conference.
Pauline Hanson, leader of One Nation, announced eight candidates for the upcoming Victorian state election during a press conference in Melbourne on Monday. The event was marked by the exclusion of reporters from the ABC, the Guardian, and the Age, with Hanson citing unfair reporting and stating that democracy does not happen on the ABC.
One Nation's Victorian president, Warren Pickering, will lead the campaign and contest the lower house seat of Pakenham. Other candidates include former Liberal party member Colleen Harkin, animator Mark Nicholson, Geelong councillor Chris Burson, and incumbent Member of Parliament Rikkie-Lee Tyrrell.
While the party has not released a full policy platform, Pickering suggested a review of the Suburban Rail Loop project and a royal commission into the construction sector. Hanson stated the party intends to field candidates in every seat and aims to govern the state, noting a surge in polling showing between 19% and 27% of Victorians considering the party.
