Lion Finance Group Targets Regional Bank Acquisitions for Expansion
Lion Finance Group Plc plans to acquire top-tier banks in Central Asia and Europe following a 740% share price increase over five years.
Lion Finance Group Plc, the parent company of Bank of Georgia, has reached a market value of £5.8 billion after its share price increased 740% over the last five years. The company's growth is driven by Georgia's rapid economic expansion, an aggressive digital banking strategy, and an influx of Russian capital following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Chief Executive Officer Archil Gachechiladze is now leading a digital-first expansion strategy targeting acquisitions of top-tier banks in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the Baltics, and the Balkans. This move follows the 2024 acquisition of Ameriabank in Armenia, which currently accounts for nearly one-third of the group's assets.
Analysts maintain a bullish outlook on the stock, pointing to the group's strong return on average equity and the ability to scale its digital ecosystem across new geographies.
