DWP to Distribute Winter Fuel Payments Starting Mid-November
The Department for Work and Pensions will issue automatic winter fuel payments of £100 to £300 to eligible pensioners through December 2026.
The Department for Work and Pensions will begin distributing Winter Fuel Payments to millions of eligible pensioners in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland starting in mid-November 2026. These payments for the 2026/27 winter period range from £100 to £300, with the final amount determined by the recipient's age and household circumstances.
Funds will be issued automatically in stages throughout November and December to individuals born on or before June 27, 1960. Most recipients will receive the money in the same account used for their State Pension or other benefits and will be sent a notification letter detailing the payment amount and designated bank account.
HM Revenue and Customs will reclaim payments from individuals with an annual income exceeding £35,000. This recovery process typically occurs through Self Assessment tax bills or by adjusting the individual's tax codes. Pensioners who have not received their payment or a notification letter by January 27, 2027, are advised to contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.
