1789 Capital Seeks $3 Billion for Second Growth Fund
1789 Capital is raising $3 billion for its second growth fund to expand investments in American defense and artificial intelligence companies.
Investment firm 1789 Capital is seeking to raise $3 billion for its second growth fund, having already secured $2 billion from existing backers. Founded in 2022, the firm specializes in American companies within the defense and artificial intelligence sectors. Its current portfolio includes SpaceX, xAI, X, and Anduril Industries Inc.
The firm is shifting its strategy toward leading more funding rounds and making fewer, larger investments. This includes a projected $300 million investment in a $1 billion funding round for the prediction markets platform Polymarket. This expansion follows the success of the firm's first growth fund, launched in 2023, which reportedly posted returns exceeding 200% through June 2026.
Beyond its growth fund, 1789 Capital raised $1.2 billion in August for a real estate development fund. This specific fund targets development in Sun Belt states, specifically Florida, Georgia, and Texas.
