UK Funds Rolls-Royce SMR Reactors as NuScale Faces Lawsuit
The UK National Wealth Fund committed $805 million to Rolls-Royce SMR reactors while NuScale Power faced a securities class action lawsuit.
The National Wealth Fund of the United Kingdom committed $805 million to support the small modular reactor (SMR) subsidiary of Rolls-Royce SMR. This funding enables Great British Energy-Nuclear, a government-owned organization, to purchase three Rolls-Royce SMRs, each featuring a 470 MWe power output, for installation on the island of Anglesey in North Wales.
Market reaction to the British government's embrace of SMR technology caused shares of NuScale Power Corporation to rise 7.7% on April 14, 2026. However, NuScale Power is concurrently the target of a class action lawsuit filed by the law firm Bronstein, Gewirtz & Grossman, LLC.
The lawsuit alleges that NuScale and its officers violated federal securities laws. Specifically, the firm claims the company made misleading statements concerning the qualifications and experience of ENTRA1, the entity responsible for the commercialization and deployment of NuScale reactors.
