OpenAI Launches Forward-Deployed Engineer Role to Scale Client AI
OpenAI is hiring forward-deployed engineers to help its largest clients move AI projects from trial phases into full-scale production.
OpenAI has introduced a new forward-deployed engineer role designed to help its largest clients transition AI projects from trial phases to full-scale production. International Managing Director Oliver Jay announced the strategy at the Fortune Brainstorm AI 2025 conference in Singapore, stating that the role addresses a bottleneck where companies struggle to implement guardrails and evaluate model accuracy at scale.
The company has already tested this model with pilot customers and is now hiring engineering managers for teams in San Francisco, New York, Dublin, London, Paris, and Munich. This initiative aims to accelerate the deployment of advanced AI into production cases by embedding engineers directly with clients to apply field-tested techniques.
This strategy coincides with a broader expansion across Asia. OpenAI has established offices in Singapore, Tokyo, and Seoul to support rapid user growth, particularly in South Korea.
