Ekuru Aukot Demands Disclosure of Dangote Refinery Contracts
Ekuru Aukot requested that the Kenyan government disclose ownership details and contract terms for the Sh2.2 trillion Dangote East Africa Petroleum Refinery in Lamu.
Thirdway Alliance Kenya Party leader Ekuru Aukot has formally requested that the Kenyan government disclose the ownership details and contract terms for the Dangote East Africa Petroleum Refinery in Lamu. In a letter addressed to Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor, Aukot sought access to agreements between the state and the Dangote Group, specifically requesting information on beneficial ownership, directors, and shareholders.
Aukot questioned whether the Sh2.2 trillion project was presented to Parliament for approval or if the arrangement creates a public financial liability. He specifically requested "Full access to the agreement or contract executed between the Government of Kenya (or any associated public entity) and the Dangote Group or its project entity, Dangote Refineries Limited SEZ."
The demand for transparency follows a September 30, 2026, groundbreaking ceremony led by President William Ruto and Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote. The refinery, developed by Dangote Industries, is designed to process 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day to serve Kenya and other East African nations, including Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
