Sunil Sharma Predicts Collapse of Omar Abdullah Government

Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma predicted on September 15, 2026, that the current Jammu and Kashmir government will not complete its full term. Speaking in Ramban, Sharma alleged that internal turmoil has already set in within the administration's ranks, which he claims will lead to a party split and eventual government collapse.

Sharma further criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, asserting that the administration's push for statehood is a pretext for the Abdullah family to regain control over the police force.

In response to the political tension, Omar Abdullah stated that he remains in continuous communication with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Abdullah noted that these discussions aim to resolve several outstanding issues between the Union Territory and the Central Government, specifically regarding the restoration of statehood, business rules, and the appointment of an Advocate General.
