NiSource Signs 20-Year Power Deal With Microsoft
NiSource signed a 20-year electricity agreement to power Microsoft's northwest Indiana campus starting in 2028, adding 1,100 megawatts of new generation resources.
NiSource announced a 20-year electricity agreement with Microsoft on October 16 to power the technology company's campus in northwest Indiana. Scheduled to begin in 2028, the deal adds approximately 1,100 megawatts of new generation resources to the NiSource GenCo portfolio.
This agreement follows similar long-term supply contracts with Amazon and an Alphabet unit. NiSource projects these data center partnerships will generate total savings of approximately $1.75 billion for NIPSCO electric customers over the life of the contracts, which could reduce annual household bills by as much as $140.
As part of the infrastructure expansion, GenCo contracted an AGP Group affiliate to develop 600 megawatts of battery storage. Following the announcement, NiSource shares rose 2.8% to $42.44 in premarket trading.
