Indian companies achieved the highest monthly mobilization ever recorded in September 2026, raising Rs 40,355 crore through 32 mainboard initial public offerings. According to the October 2026 Monthly Bulletin from the Securities and Exchange Board of India, total primary market fundraising across equity, debt, and trust structures reached Rs 1,68,372 crore, marking a 22 percent increase over August.
Mainboard IPOs were primarily driven by Offer for Sale components, which accounted for 75 percent of the total. In the small and medium enterprise sector, 38 IPOs raised Rs 1,684 crore. While mainboard listings were characterized by institutional dominance and strong performance, SME IPOs saw higher retail participation and increased volatility.
Fundraising was led by the capital markets sector at 36 percent, followed by industrial manufacturing and healthcare services. This surge in activity occurred despite a market correction that saw the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 decline by 5.8 percent and 6.1 percent, respectively.
