Smyths Toys issued an urgent recall for its Wooden Cornhole Board with Bean Bags, product number 233254, after discovering potential asbestos contamination in the sand used to fill the bean bags. The company stated that testing showed only trace levels of the substance and characterized the overall risk as low, but is recalling the items as a precaution.

The Office for Product Safety & Standards confirmed the recall, determining that the toy fails to meet the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. The agency noted that asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a health risk even at low levels of exposure.

Customers are advised to stop using the product immediately and keep it out of reach of children. The retailer is offering full refunds to customers who return the affected items to any local Smyths Toys Superstore.
