Adeleke Campaign Warns of Preloaded BVAS Machines in Osun

The Imole Campaign Council, representing Governor Ademola Adeleke's reelection bid, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to prevent electoral fraud in the upcoming August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election. At a press conference in Osogbo, Council Director-General Senator Kamarudeen Olalere Oyewumi alleged that leaders of the All Progressives Congress claimed they could preload Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines and illegally print result sheets to manipulate the outcome.

Oyewumi cited technical failures and irregularities from recent off-cycle elections in Ekiti, Ogun, Oyo, Jigawa, and the FCT as evidence of systemic risk. These issues include the use of pre-thumbprinted ballot papers and the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to mercenary voters.

The Council demanded that INEC audit BVAS devices and ensure the transparent distribution of PVCs to over 381,000 newly registered voters. To prevent disenfranchisement, the group also urged the deployment of additional personnel and equipment to high-population polling units to ensure the credibility of the vote.
