Hevo Group Acquires Müritz to Enter German Egg Market
Hevo Group acquired German producer Müritz to enter the German market and increase its annual production capacity to 180 million dozen eggs.
Spanish egg supplier Hevo Group acquired Müritz, a German producer that supplies retailers including Edeka. This acquisition marks the company's entry into the German market and brings its total production capacity to approximately 180 million dozen eggs annually. Müritz operates six farms producing free-range and organic eggs located north of Berlin.
CEO André Baldissera stated the move is part of a strategy to build a more resilient group through geographical diversification and a consolidated European production platform. Hevo Group is backed by the Brazilian multinational producer Global Eggs, which has previously expanded through the acquisition of El Granjero in Spain and Hillandale Farms in the United States.
The expansion follows a reported investment of up to $1 billion from the private-equity firm Warburg Pincus into Global Eggs.
