Gatwick Airport Travelers Face Rail and Road Disruptions

Travelers heading to Gatwick Airport face significant disruptions during the August Bank Holiday weekend from August 28 to August 31, 2026. Engineering work in the London Victoria area will suspend all Gatwick Express services before approximately 07:00 on Sunday, August 30, with amended timetables and extended journey times continuing until 09:00.

Southern rail services between London Victoria and Three Bridges or Brighton will also operate on amended schedules between 01:00 and 09:00 on Sunday. Additionally, Gatwick Express, Southern, and Thameslink will run amended services on Bank Holiday Monday.

United Minibuses and Coaches warned passengers to allow extra travel time and secure backup transport to avoid missing flights. The RAC estimates that 20 million leisure car journeys will occur over the period, potentially making it the busiest late-August Bank Holiday on the roads since 2015.
