Waze Launches AI-Powered Navigation and Specialized Motorcycle Mode
Waze introduced five AI-driven updates including personalized routing, a less chatty voice mode, and a dedicated motorcycle navigation tool for select global markets.
Waze announced five major updates for its Android and iOS applications on July 13, 2026, centered on personalization and the integration of Google's Gemini AI. These updates include personalized navigation that suggests routes based on a user's driving history and a less chatty mode designed to minimize voice prompt interruptions during music or podcasts.
As part of the Gemini integration, the app expanded its Conversational Reporting feature, allowing users to suggest map updates and report road closures using natural speech, which human editors then verify. Waze also introduced a natural-language destination search in beta, enabling users to perform complex queries for specific locations such as low-cost gas stations or open coffee shops.
Additionally, the platform launched a dedicated motorcycle mode that utilizes AI to identify two-wheeler shortcuts and account for specific restrictions. This mode alerts riders to hazards such as potholes, narrow bridges, raised crosswalks, and shoulder endings. While other features are rolling out globally, the motorcycle mode is initially available in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, and the Philippines, with plans for further international expansion.
