SpaceX Shares Volatile After IPO Amid AI Growth

SpaceX shares fluctuated wildly following its IPO as the company reported a 92% revenue increase driven by new AI business segments.

Shares of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. experienced significant volatility following its initial public offering, with prices swinging between $105 and over $225 before stabilizing at the $150 IPO price. The company currently holds a market capitalization of $2 trillion.

Second-quarter financial results reveal a 92% year-over-year revenue increase to $7.8 billion. This growth is primarily attributed to an AI business segment, which now accounts for 33% of total revenue. This expansion follows the acquisition of xAI earlier this year and the establishment of high-value hosting agreements, including a $920 million per month deal with Alphabet Inc. to rent computing power from the Colossus data center and another AI hosting contract worth $1.11 billion per month.

While the company narrowed its operating loss to $143 million during the second quarter, the stock trades at a price-to-sales ratio of 70. This valuation has led some analysts to warn of risks associated with a potential AI bubble.
