Wiltshire Council Announces Extensive Summer Road Closures for Infrastructure

Wiltshire Council scheduled multiple road closures throughout July and August 2026 to facilitate utility repairs and a long-term bridge reconstruction project in Latton.

Wiltshire Council announced a series of planned road closures across the county for July and August 2026 to enable critical utility and infrastructure upgrades. These disruptions range from single-day interruptions to a significant long-term project in Latton, where bridge reconstruction, road widening, and traffic signal improvements are scheduled to continue until November 6.

The works are being carried out by a consortium of utility providers. Openreach is managing pole installations and drainage repairs, while Thames Water and Wessex Water are handling water main repairs and new supply connections in areas including Chirton and Bremhill. Additionally, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is replacing poles and cabling in Castle Combe and Broad Hinton, and Gigaclear is performing defect rectification in Kington St Michael.

The council stated that access for residents and businesses will be maintained where possible, although motorists should expect delays. All affected areas will have signposted diversion routes to manage the traffic flow during the construction period.
