Apple iPhone 18 Pro Launch Sparks Case Compatibility Dispute

Apple released the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max with dimensions identical to the iPhone 17 Pro generation. While the height, width, and depth remain unchanged, the new models are heavier due to the integration of a vapour chamber, Apple cellular modems, and the A20 Pro chip.

A physical discrepancy has emerged regarding the camera bump, which is approximately 0.5mm taller on the iPhone 18 Pro series than on the previous generation. This minor change has created conflicting claims among accessory manufacturers regarding whether cases are interchangeable.

OtterBox, Decoded, and Mous state that their cases are compatible across both generations. In contrast, Rokform asserts that while its iPhone 18 Pro cases fit both models, its iPhone 17 Pro cases are incompatible with the iPhone 18 due to the specific design of the camera plateau.
