Incheon Airport Boosts Security After European Flight Bomb Threats

Incheon International Airport Police increased security measures following a series of bomb threats that disrupted more than a dozen flights across Europe.

The Incheon International Airport Police increased security measures on Friday after a series of bomb threats targeted more than a dozen flights across Europe. While officials stated there is no specific terrorism threat to the South Korean airport, they are maintaining high vigilance and utilizing a response system designed to address emergencies within five minutes.

In Europe, the threats caused widespread flight disruptions and diversions. One flight traveling from Dublin to Rome was escorted by French Air Force fighter jets to the Evreux-Fauville air base. Authorities deployed police with sniffer dogs to search aircraft, though no hazardous or suspicious materials were discovered in any of the cases. The origin of the threats remains unknown.

Luis Gallego, Chief Executive Officer of IAG SA, noted that airlines have limited options to prevent such disruptions. He stated that a single email or phone call can cause chaos for hundreds of travelers, even when the threats are identified as copycat hoaxes.
