Collins Aerospace to Cut 31 Jobs in Cedar Rapids

Collins Aerospace will eliminate 31 positions at its Cedar Rapids facility by November 30 to reduce costs and optimize its organizational structure.

Collins Aerospace will lay off 31 employees at its operations in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, effective November 30, 2026. The company announced the reductions via a notice posted on October 29 in compliance with the Iowa Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.

Company officials stated the cuts are intended to reduce costs and optimize organizational structure to remain responsive to evolving customer needs. These steps are designed to help the company reinvest in high-priority programs and increase efficiency to support demand for aerospace products. The company did not specify which job types are being eliminated.

These reductions mark the first job cuts for the company in 2026. They follow larger layoffs in June 2025 that affected 262 workers in Cedar Rapids and 29 in Decorah. Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, remains the largest employer in Cedar Rapids, where it produces aircraft engine parts and military targeting systems with a workforce of approximately 7,000 people.
