Azerbaijan Ratifies Defense Cooperation Agreement With Ethiopia

President Ilham Aliyev signed a law on May 6, 2026, ratifying a defense cooperation agreement between Azerbaijan and the Government of Ethiopia. The agreement was originally signed in Baku on February 27, 2026, and serves as a legal framework to enhance bilateral relations within the defense sector.

The cooperation focuses on several key areas, including military education, personnel training, and joint exercises. It also covers logistical support, military-technical cooperation, and coordination for peacekeeping and humanitarian operations. Additionally, the accord facilitates official visits, bilateral negotiations, and mutual participation in defense exhibitions.

Implementation of the agreement is delegated to the ministries of defense of both nations. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Defense of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia are designated as the competent authorities responsible for overseeing the partnership.
