Seligman Ventures Doubles AI Infrastructure Capital to $1 Billion

Seligman Ventures increased its deployable capital to $1 billion to target AI hardware, connectivity, and cybersecurity investments.

Seligman Ventures doubled its deployable capital to $1 billion, expanding from an initial $500 million launch in February 2026. The firm has already deployed over $300 million across 14 companies focusing on AI hardware, connectivity, and cybersecurity. This expansion reflects a strategic bet that physical bottlenecks in AI infrastructure will produce the next generation of major technology companies, shifting focus toward capital-intensive hardware over traditional software.

Managing partner Umesh Padval reported that deal flow exceeded his initial expectations by 10 to 15 times. The firm utilizes a barbell strategy that blends early-stage investments with late-stage and pre-IPO funding. To distinguish itself from crossover funds, the firm maintains an active governance role, currently holding six board seats and three observer seats.

Chief Investment Officer Paul Wick implemented this governance-heavy approach as a correction to previous venture efforts that failed during the dot-com collapse due to a lack of board representation. The venture arm leverages public-market data analysis from its parent company to inform its investment theses.
