Agnico Eagle Targets 30 Percent Gold Production Increase
Agnico Eagle Mines Limited plans to increase annual gold production by 20% to 30% over the next decade through organic expansion and internal development.
Agnico Eagle Mines Limited announced a strategic growth plan to increase annual gold production by 20% to 30% over the next five to ten years. Presented at the Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum, the strategy prioritizes organic expansion, internal exploration, and project development over large-scale acquisitions.
The company will focus on three primary pillars in stable jurisdictions. In Canada, management aims to bring the Detour Lake mine to 1 million ounces annually, transition the Canadian Malartic mine to the higher-grade Odyssey underground operation, and develop the Hope Bay project in Nunavut. Long-term operations will also continue in Australia and Finland, including the Kittila mine and the Ikkari project.
Agnico Eagle intends to fund these expansions using its balance sheet while maintaining shareholder returns through dividends and share buybacks.
