Autodesk Unveils Agentic AI Strategy at University 2026

At Autodesk University 2026 in Las Vegas, Autodesk unveiled a strategy to transition its AI tools from simple chatbots to agentic assistants. The company previewed a next-generation experience for the Autodesk Assistant that coordinates project intelligence across its three industry clouds: Autodesk Forma for architecture, engineering, and construction; Autodesk Fusion for design and manufacturing; and Autodesk Flow for media and entertainment.

Unlike the current version that operates within individual tools, the upcoming system uses an AI Orchestrator to select models based on task requirements. New features include Personal Pulse for prioritizing issues, Assistant Spaces for collaboration, and Assistant Builder for third-party AI agent integration. CEO Andrew Anagnost announced that a standalone version of the assistant will be available in 2027 to work across multiple products by understanding project context.

Other major announcements included the launch of Forma Street Design and a confirmation from EVP Amy Bunszel that Autodesk Forma is intended to replace Revit over time. The company also introduced AI-driven features for Fusion, such as AutoTimeline and AutoAssemble, and established the Autodesk Operations Solutions unit to integrate MaintainX and Tandem for operational digital twins. To support smaller firms, Autodesk expanded its small business program and partnered with CrowdStrike to offer discounted security products.
